Show BUTTE. Reverend Father Maddux Is Visiting in Butte. Rev. Father Maddux, member of the Redemptorist society, is in Butte on his way from Seattle to Kansas City, and for the next few days will be the guest of Rev. Father Batens, of St. Lawrence Law-rence ' parish in Walkerville. Father Maddux is not a stranger in Butte, for he was here in 1902. and remained several sev-eral weeks doing mission work in the county. He has 'been stationed in Se-various Se-various Catholic jiarishes of Silver Bow-county Bow-county for some time. Next Sunday morning at 11 o'clock Father Maddux will celebrate mass at St. Lawrence's church. Rev. Father Barry of St. Paul's church preached his farewell sermon in that edifice at 9:30 Friday morning, March 17. High mass was celebrated, as is the custom on St. Patrick's day, and during the services Father Barry made his farewell address to his congregation. con-gregation. He will leave Saturday morning for his new field of labor in Butte, in the parish presided over by Father DeSiere. Fattier Barry has many friends in the city of Anaconda, who will regret his departure while j congratulating him on his promotion, and his removal to Butte is considered a promotion. There are many people in Anaconda not members of the Catholic church who have learned to regard Father Barry as a true man, able, conscientious con-scientious and of liberal mind and heart, and they will Avatch his career with the pleasurable hope that he will succeed in his calling. As an orator he has few equals, and he is a pleasant, companionable friend. Among the children chil-dren of St. Paul's parish Father Barry is a favorite and tho choir of St. Angela's An-gela's academy have already presented him Avith a. small token of the regard In which he is held by the mcntbers. and it ia said the pupils of the grades are also 'preparing a little present for the priest. The children regret his departure depar-ture very much and- when speaking of it some of them are moved to tears. Father Coopman, rector of the parish, does not yet know who will succeed Father Barry, but expects to be notified by the !bishop of the diocese almost any day. BOISE. Mrs. Harvey Cullum is visiting friends in Namsa, The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Irving W. Hart will regret to learn that they will leave Boise for their new home in Virginia the first of April. Miss Irv-in, a daughter of Colonel Ir-vin Ir-vin df this city, and Miss McGinn of Nebraska, Who accompanied General and Mrs. Roberts east for the inaugural inaugu-ral ceremonies, were guests at a dinner din-ner given by General and Mrs. Roberts at the Arlington on Tuesday, the 7th of March.
