Show THE ORPHAN'S CHRISTMAS. Tree Bending Under Gifts Brought Joy to the Little Ones. The little- folks at the Kearns' St. Ann's orphanage sang, laughed and danced in joyous glee on last Tuesday afternoon, when they saw their beautifully beau-tifully dressed tree with its many lights and ornaments before their childish eyes. Great loads of toys, with candy and nuts, had been generously gener-ously donated by several prominent merchants and citizens, and nothing was forgotten that could contribute to the happiness of the children. Even the poor old Chinese gardener, John, who lives near St. Ann's, did not forget for-get to send his mite, and many of the pretty ornaments on the tree were donated do-nated by him. Among the merchants; who contributed were the generous Auerbach brothers, who sent, along with toys, many articles of clothing. The other merchants were Waltenspeil, Kahn Bros., Walker Bros., T. B. O'Reilley, Brown, Terry, Woodruff & Co., Siegel Clothing Co., " Salt Lake Soda Co., Wood Produce Co., Fergus Coalter, Schramm Drug Co. Other friends who donated were Senator Sen-ator Kearns, Mrs.' Patrick Kervin, Mrs. W. S. McCornick. Mrs. Lent, P. Finnegan and James Hogle. The gifts were distributed by Rev. Father Kiely, assisted by the Sisters and some interested friends. The delight de-light and joy of the children gave much pleasure to all those present. |
