McGovern has returned re-turned from St. Mary's, Kan., for the Christmas holidays'. Q Miss Dora Buckley and Mrs. James McDonald were married at the residence resi-dence of the bride. 1615 Pennsylvania avenue, last Sunday afternoon. Rev. Father Callahan performed the ceremony. cere-mony. At the 5 o'clock mass in Logan avenue ave-nue chapel on Christmas morning, Rev. Father White preached a beautiful sermon ser-mon appropriate to the occasion, on "The Nativity." Father Callanan was celebrant, and there were also present in the' sanctuary Rev. Fathers O'Mal-ley O'Mal-ley and McDonald. Farmer's mass in B flat was ung by a full choir. At the pontifical hugh mass at 11 o'clock the right rev. bishop preached. The altar was beautifully decorated by Mrs. F. K. Paul, sacristan of the Altar society. Mietzke's mass in G was artistically artis-tically rendered by a choir of twenty-five twenty-five voices, with full orchestral accompaniment. accom-paniment. Miss Helen Kane's solo was particularly particu-larly well rendered. Thi other soloists were Miss Kirkpatrickr,.Miss Murphy, Miss Lotteslibin. Mr. Sayre, De. Wal-lack Wal-lack and Mr. McPhie. Great credit is due. the director, Mr. W. E. Nelson, for the care with which he prepared the music, for this grand occasion. Profesor Jean de Chaurenet presided at the organ. Immediately after the, high mass the choir chanted that ojd but ever beautiful beau-tiful hymn, "The Adesti Fidelis. At the bishop's request the banquet in honor of his lordship's return, which was to have been held at the Brown Palace hotel on the evening of Jan. 7, has been indefinitely postponed. |
