Mr. Kinney was horn in Ireland: came to America while a youth, and removed re-moved to the west before the completion of the Union Pacific road. He obtained ob-tained service writh the company, and was promoted from time to time, in the end filling a most responsible position. Prudent in his affairs, when he saved enough to go on his own hook he resigned his position on the railroad staff, took up a ranch and put a flock of sheep upon it. Good management and good luck increased his store, so that today the ranch has spread out and he has many flocks upon many hills, along with herds of cattle. He also engaged en-gaged in the mercantile business, and owned the largest general store in Wyoming, which he sold only a year ago. Mr. Kinney is president of the Rock Springs National bank. Mr. Kinney was married to Miss'Sarah Matthews, a graduate of St. Mary's academy of Salt Lake, who bore him seven children, five of whom are living. This estimable lady died ten years ago. and Mr. Kinnev has remained re-mained a widower. Two of Mr. Kinney's daughters reside in this city, Misses Dora and Angela Kinney. Mr. Timothy Kinney is one of the $5,000 donors to the new cathedral at Salt Lake. . j |
