Show TONOPAH'S BIG DAY. The driving of the last spike on the Tonopah road, which gives that city and district outside railroad connections, connec-tions, will be celebrated Monday at Tonopah. It will be made a gala occasion occa-sion by the citizens of that mining camp, who have perfected a programme of celebration, in part, as follows: Receiving visitors on night of the 24th and morning of the 25th. July 26 Grand parade at 2 p. m., crowning of queen and driving the golden spike, entertainment at opera house at night. July 26 Fireman's hose race, foot races, drilling match and ball game, Goldfield vs. Tonopah; grand ball in the evening given by the Fraternal Order of Eagles. July 27 Foot race from Nye County bank to top of Mt. Oddie and return, bicycle race, bronco busting contest, boy's drilling match, ball game, Renr vs. Tonopah or Goldfield, whichever team wins between Goldfield and Tonopah Tono-pah will play Reno; parade in the evening and fireworks. Carnival colors will be silver and gold. |
