Show . DENVER NOTES. I . ! The Logan avenue choir has received a valuable acquisition in the person of Mrs. J. Lovapall. After a prolonged stay at her home !n the east, Miss Daly has returned to Denver, to the delight of her many friends. ' JUr. Mr. Grattan O'Bryan has recently made his home in Cripple Creek, where he will carry on the law business, connected con-nected with tha firm of O'Bryan & O'Bryan. O ' Miss Catherine O'Donnell was buried from St. Joseph's Hospital on Jan. 16, Her early death was sanctified by an illness borne with Christian patience and resignation. .Mrs. Rodgers Youmans has returned from a ten weeks' visit to Missouri. Mrs. Youman's splendid efforts financially finan-cially and otherwise, in behalf of the Logan avenue choir, deserve recogni- tlon A auiet and animated contest took place at the recent election of officers for the Young Ladies' Sodality. The successful candidate augurs well for the progress of the society during the ensuing year. The membership of the Sodality has Deen increased uy a number num-ber of graduates from the High School. "; The Monthly Calendar deeply sympathizes sympa-thizes with the Rev. Father Maione, and hia sister, Mrs. Ryan, in their sad bereavement over the death of their good mother. Mrs. Malone. Her long and painful illness was borne with true Christian fortitude, and she died an edifying death, surrounded by all the comforts of religion. On Monday evening, Jan. 29, a number num-ber or friends of the Misses Ryan were invited to a reception given at ''their residence, 2720 Lawrence street. The occasion proved an enjoyable one, and all the guests were made very happy. Mioses Jennie and Maggie, in their usual entertaining and hospitable way, j left nothing undone to make the occasion occa-sion a success. Card playing was in- dulged in, and many a witty saying and j pleasant simile passeds 'round the j board. i Miss Hanna carried off the firet prize ; in progressive euchre, which consisted ; of a handsomely designed silver bell, j Mr. Bray carried off the gentleman's I first prize, which consisted of a sterling j silver ink eraser. Miss Mamie Ryan also carried off a prize, consisting of a beautiful centerpiece, and last, but not least, the Hon. P. K. Ryan carried off the much-coveted silver sihoe-but-toner, and it is evident that while he possesses such a valuable article he will have easy sailing with the fair sex. Miss Frankie Neenan rendered a. beautiful solo in her usual musical manner, and was greeted with applause by all nresent. - At 11 o'clock- a delicious repast was served, which satisfied the appetites of all present. Those who had the honor of ' attending finis delightful occasion ' were: Mrs. Hubbard, the MisEes Kate and Frankie Neenan, Miss Bee Carr, Mias Brosner, Miss Hanna, Miss Ahern; Miss Sherlock, Miss Mabel McAm-bridge, McAm-bridge, the Misses; Lillian, Mamie and Margaret Ryan, Messrs. Bray, Horan and Bryan. |
