Show THE DEVIL'S SIGN BOARDS. The "indecent poster" nuit:anc3 is one of those vices Avhio'i to be hated needs but to be seen. The police force can tear such flaunting immorality down, but they might offend somebody who has influence with the couneilmen. A class of men think more of making money than of saving their souls. They would raise an outcry' against, the violation vio-lation of "personal liberty" committed in destroying the hell-snares they put up to catch the idling youth, and to decoy de-coy the innocent into the devil's vestibules. vesti-bules. The United States mail is actually actu-ally blamed for refusing to carry obscene ob-scene literature. But if it is right to keep such rot out of the mails, it is doubly more righteous to tear it do wit off the fences and walls of our public streets. Nude figures are put where they catch I the eyes of the school children on their j way to school. There is no difference between indecent exposure of person in the flesh and in flesh paint. Females in abbreviated apparel are allowed to look down from the billboards, who, if they walked the sidewalk would be tarred' and feathered by a mob. The apathy that tolerates such a nuisance will bring down its own punishment; but the innocent will suffer with the wicked. Their crime is their tolerance of such an abuse. |
