Show . LEADVILLE, COLO. - After an' illness of several months. Frederick Mead died at his home at 430 East Seventh street, Dec. '25. Mr. Mead had been ill for a long time and went to New Mexico in order to recuperate if possible. He did not get any better and returned to Leadville. Mr. Mead has been engaged in leasing here for a number of years. He is survived sur-vived by a widow and two children. He was a member of the Catholic Knights. The annual Christmas entertainment by the pupils of St. Mary's parochial school was given at the Elks' opera house. The theatre was well filled and the audience was an appreciative appre-ciative one. The children rendered musical mu-sical numbers, recitations and other more pretentious forms of ' entertainment entertain-ment and the entire programme-was most creditable to those participating and to the sisters who drilled the performers. per-formers. ' ' Allan McDonald, who has been attending at-tending Sacred Heart college at Denver, Den-ver, has returned home for the holidays, holi-days, and is visiting his parents, Dr. and Mrs. A. J. Robert McKeage is up from Salida visiting his parents in this city. f Alexander McDonald spent the holidays holi-days in Denver. D. D. Sullivan spent Christmas in Denver. Mr. and Mrs. Charles McDonald of Salt Lake were in Leadville for the holidays visiting A. J. McDonald and R. J. McDonald. A. K. McDonald spent the holidays with his family in Denver. Misses Sarah McRobbie, Margaret Burns and Annie McDonald were home from Greeley to spend Christmas with their parents. Bernard Mulligan returned from Sacred Sa-cred Heart college to spend a few-days few-days with his parents. f James Fitzgerald is spending the vacation va-cation with his father in the city. Dugan left Saturday morning over the Rock Island for New York City , and will sail from that point, Jan. 5, on the French line steamer La Champagne for Paris. Mr. Dugan will visit France and other countries of Europe. f Captain and Mrs. M. J. Hogarty of Greeley were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Hogarty last Thursday. They were enroute to California. SALIDA, COLO.. Father O'Begly has resigned his position po-sition as pastor of St. Joseph's church and preached a farewell sermon to his, congregation Sunday morning. He left the first of the week for the coast. Father O'Begly tendered his resigna-. tion some time ago on account of ill-health. ill-health. It is not known at this time who has been elected to fill his pulpit. CPvESTED BUTTE, COLO. (Special Correspondence.) Work on St. Patrick's church is being be-ing pushed a rapidly as possible and should be completed by the middle of the present month. The choir has been recently reorganized by Fr. Deatcher, and practiced in the new church on Monday. Rev. Fr. Deatcher left for Gunnison after a week of ha"rd work looking after aft-er the repairs to the church. Mrs. Boyle is convalescing after, a brief illness. ' The Catholics of thip mission are elated elat-ed over the appointment of Mn-. Eva Wheeler as postmistress. She is deserving deserv-ing and will fill the office to the entire satisfaction of all. - f- New Year resolutions are in order.
