Show COMPLAINTS. In years gone by, if a man has a complaint to offer against some business concern, a complaint about the quality of the service or the size of his bill, or anything else, especially against a public service corporation; about all the satisfaction he got out of his kick was that coming from the unburdening un-burdening of his mind. A nice, gentle kick was no more productive of good results than a raucous one; what he kicked about was generally fixed when the company got good and ready, or it wasn't fixed at all, just as it suited the one complained to. Although Al-though the bad service of a corporation might be the talk of the town, there was never an indication about its offices that such a thing as a complaint was ever heard. But a change has cfome over the spirit of nearly all business concerns, and especially of public service ser-vice service corporations. In the new dispensation, dispensa-tion, complaints are invited, and about every pub lic service corporation has its regularly organized department to take care of those who have a legitimate legit-imate complaint of poor service, overcharging or any other of the numerous things which the general public thinks it has a right to complain of. And the general public thinks it has a right to kick at everything wherein it thinks it is getting the worst of it. We have no idea why this changed attitude has come, but that it is here no one can doubt. Perhaps Per-haps it has been discovered that most people don't want any more than is legitimately coming to them, that as long as they get satisfactory service they won't kick. Perhaps it 'has been discovered that "it pays" to treat the public white. Whatever the reason for the change, it is a fact that a man with a complaint against a public service ser-vice corporation can now go to the offices of the said corporation, state his business to the first man he sees, and be referred at once to a man whose business it is to take care of complaints, to rectify errors and "create friendly relations." And in most cases he will be good natured and considerate, and he will more than likely have a man out on the' job before you get home again. It's good business to rectify mistakes and to give good service. People Peo-ple don't kick. much if they get something good, no matter if it does cost more than it ought to. |
