The last pchool day of ifios was devoted de-voted to' the presentation of a literary and musical programme of rare merit which will be detailed in our next issue. ' , ' . There' is an atmosphere of expectancy expec-tancy about St. Joseph's church a j hush that preludes coming joy, and j the significant smiles on the "faces of parishioners foretell the happines that awaits all on Christmas morning, when the beautiful altars will be unveiled. t ' To those leaving Sacred Heart for the holidays, a tender good-bye and a gentle injunction are given the former full of good wishes for a joyous" vacation, vaca-tion, the latter replete with warning "Girls, be sure to present your smiling, smil-ing, or even tearful, faces at the academy portal, Jan. 7th, and remember remem-ber that June sunshine will not be so bright for you unless you have braved the snows of January. Examinations' are the watchwords of the hour at Sacred Heart academy. The first to undergo the dread ordeal were the pupils studying modern lan- i guages. and if the results in these instances in-stances are indicative of what is to I follow, we have every reason to believe be-lieve that the report cards of the pupils pu-pils will be Christmas- presents of which fond parents may well be proud. f Wednesday, Dec. 1:5, a most pleasant evening was speiit by the pupils witnessing wit-nessing a dress rehearsal of "Rreezy Point." as- presented by the young, ladies la-dies of St. Joseph's parish for the benefit of the new altars. The youthful youth-ful audience returned a most enthusi- ; sstic verdict, which was verified 'the following eyening when the Fifth j Ward amusenif nl' hall was taxed to accommodate ac-commodate thei appreciative audience that greeted the young ladies who presented pre-sented with grace and finish the -excellent programme reviewed in smother column.
