Show NEW ALTARS AT ST. JOSEPH'S CHURCH Designed and made in Ogdcn. "A thing of beauty is a joy forever." One ,of the most' elaborate pieces of workmanship workman-ship performed in this state, was executed in Og-elen Og-elen on altars for the above Catholic church. Plans were designed and drawn by F. C. Woods, architect, archi-tect, and under his direction and scrutinizing eye every detail was carried out to the letter. Competent Com-petent workmen were secured and American material ma-terial used in their- construction of the best, for there is nothing too good for the glory and edification edifi-cation of God. The style of architecture is composite com-posite Gothic. A pen description of the beautiful work cannot well be elucidated. The only realistic realis-tic way' is by an ocular demonstration, by which all their component parts can be thoroughly, analyzed an-alyzed in all their beauty, magnificence and grandeur. gran-deur. The wood carving of Mr. Jeppefson is grand and commands respect and admiration by all who have seen and examined the work, on columns, col-umns, entablatures, arches, curves and what not. It would take the genius of Euclid to determine in detail the blending of those in beauty and harmony. har-mony. The Lamb and Sacred Hearts - arc par excellent. ex-cellent. All this labyrinth of workmanship was equipped and prepared by Mr. John Callahan and Mr. A. A. Eichter, carpenters, before they were taken in hand by Mr. Jeppcrson. We arc justified in voicing the assertion that this work can hardly be duplicated in this state or the next. Mr. M. Gillis lent his genius in moulding columns, etc., ! etc. All were executed ip. grand style. This wo can say also of Mr. Mclvennon, carriage painter. The main altar, which was placed in position by fifty or sixty men, the length of which is sixteen feet by twenty-five in height. The last, but not the least, the Kev. P. M. His work is an everlasting ornament long may he live in tho earnest prayer of his entire congregation. congrega-tion. , In adding to the beauty of his church he is striving to advance the interests of the Queen City of the West with all his natural qualities.
