Show Salt Lakers Will. Build in the New Town of Tooele. That there will be an immense amount of Salt Lake City capital invested in-vested in Tooele City, the new townsite near the site of the International Smelting & Refining company's proposed pro-posed smelter, is evident from the ready manner in which money is being advanced by local inst.tutlons. Among other Investments will be the erection by the Salt Lake Security & Trust company of a $20,000 hotel in the center of the city and the erection of a large number of large residences, Frank E. McGurrin. president of the company, announced this morning that within the next year he will have invested over $150,000 in the town. Plans have all been made for tho new hotel, the site having been secured some time ago, the plans now beirg in the hands of Architect Helmit. and bids for the work being open. Worn will begin on the new structure a week from today and it will be rushed to completion as rapidly as possible. It is to be located almost directly in the center of the city on the northwest north-west corner of the -'ntersectlng streets, which w 111 be known as Broadway and Date. It will be constructed of stont and brick and will be modern In every particular. The height has not been fully decided de-cided upon. but. it wlll be probably four stories, all built in the very latest architectural ar-chitectural style and so arranged that additional stories will be poss ble when the city increases to sufficient size to warrant enlargement of the building. Besides the hotel the Salt Lake Security Se-curity company will put in $50,000 immediately im-mediately in the erection of residences. All of these w.ll be of the very best brick and' stone and. modern throughout. through-out. Practically 90 per cent of the houses which will be built have been contracted for and will be purchased from the Security company as soon ae completed. Mr. McGurrin says that he believes the new town will be a great success "We investigated the proposition thoroughly," he said, "before puttinc in a single dollar, and there is absolutely abso-lutely no doubt about the new town being a success. We expect to Invest probably over $150,0C0 out there before we get through." i . The new townsite will be opened next Thursday, morning, and the - work of auctioning off the lots will be begun. The. site -which has been secured by Mr. McGurrin for the new hotel wiil be paid for at the rate of the highest price which is offered for any of the three other corners on the intersection. At the auction will be a. large number of Salt Lakers and many from Butte and Anaconda. Mont. The townsite is all ready to open and there promises to be much enthusiasm in the auction which will be held Thursday. In the town will be fourteen four-teen large streets.. Broadway will be the main street running north and south, and L'tan avenue the largest street running east and west. Broadway will be eighty feet wide, and Utah avenue 100 feet wide. At the north end of the town, on Broadway, will be the depot of Ihe Tooele Valley Railway company, which will connect the town to the new smelter. Later it is expected that an electric line will be built to the smelter from the town for the use of passengers, and the steam road will be used for freight. For residence district it is said the site will be one of the most beautiful in the whole west. The elevation is 800 feet higher than Salt Lake City. The town i3 ourrouiKl-ed ourrouiKl-ed with a horse shoe shaped range of snow-capped mountains and peaks and the entrance to the town is through a pass at the north end. For beaut it cannot be surpassed. The whole of the valley is flat and level and the ground solid, making building Pafe. Work on the smelter is to hegtn in k short time. The camp for the workmen has been establ shed and the setting out of stakes and the hauling ot materials ma-terials is being rapidly rusher toward completion.
