By means of a "tag" day over $1,000 was raised for the erection of a home for the nurses attached to Mercv hospital. hos-pital. On Wednesday. March 21. the friends of the hospital took up their s-tand on downtown corners and in business blocks and, offering little yellow yel-low and blue tas to the charitably inclined, in-clined, asked for a pittance toward the nurses' home. It is the same idea that the Saturday and Sunday Hospital association as-sociation originated in Denver some , years ago. The nurses at Mercy hospital hav ! ' ' pitifully crowded quarters, which absolutely ab-solutely precludes social life even in leisure hours. The Sisters of Mercy hope soon to begin the erection of a modest building which will fill this want. The "tag'' day idea was under the fostering care of the staff physicians, physi-cians, and they took personal charge of the corps of workers to whose efforts the raising of the goodly sum of money is due. The Charity Ball. Tuesday, May 4, is the date for the charity ball at El Jebel temple, which it is hoped will net sufficient money to begin the work of constructing a foundling foun-dling asylum. The diocese has no ex-j clusively foundling asylum within its borders, and the proposed St. Ann's will fill a loivg felt want. Xo society is back ! of the charity ball at El Jebel temple for the benefit of the project, but men and women of all creeds and in all stations sta-tions of life who understand the work of the Sisters of Charity in Denver are i lending a helping hand. The sisters expect to decrease the infant in-fant mortality rate at St. Vincent's orphanage or-phanage by keeping the very young children close to St. Joseph's hospital where medical facilities can be readily obtained. It is intended that the foundling foun-dling home shall be built on lots fronting front-ing east on Humboldt street Just north of St. Joseph's hospital. Here the children chil-dren will be kept from infancy to the age of 4 years, where the physicians from St. Joseph's can look to their needs. Si. Vincent's orphan asylum is a goodly distance from the heart of the city and it is impossible to get a doctor on short notice. Personal. Feiix O'Xeill, sergeant-at-arms of the house during the assembly just closed, was last week appointed warden of the state reformatory at Buena Vista. While friends congratulate Mr. O'Xeill on his success in securing the position, there is nevertheless keen regret that Denver will lose such an interesting family. Mrs. O'Xeill has always been an active worker in the cause of charity, char-ity, and the Misses May and Hazel O'Xeill, who are accomplished musicians, musi-cians, are popular in east end social circles. t- Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J.
