Show j Diocese cf fnletia BUTTE CITY. Redemptcrist Fathers Begin Mission at St. Lawrence Church. The congregations that attended services in St. Lawrence church Sunday Sun-day filled the large edifice. It was the occasion of the opening of a three weeks' mission by the Redemptorist Fathers. The first day opened with elaborate services at 10:30 o'clqc.k, when a solemn high mass was celebrated. Rev. Father Batens, rector in charge of the parish,-was the celebrant, and he was assisted by the following clergymen: clergy-men: Deacon', Father O'Reagan: sub-dcacon, sub-dcacon, Father Harrington; master of ceremonies. Father Ryan. A large procession, headed by the clergy, proceeded from the sacristy to the rear of the church, where the Redemptorist Re-demptorist missionaries were formally introduced to the people. Rev. Father Nierman. who is superior in charge of the mission work, preached a beautiful beauti-ful sermon. Sunday night a mission for women was formally begun. Th services consisted con-sisted of the Rosary, instruction and sermon, closing with the benediction and blessed sacrament. Sunday's musical programme pro-gramme was especially fine. |
