Show OGDEN. (Special Correspondence.) The examination in the musical department de-partment of the Sacred Heart academy ended on the feast of the Purification, the programme of the day proving a real musical feast to the lovers of sweet sounds. The marked improvement noted since September is most gratifying to the teachers, and must be equally so to the pupils themselves and their parents. par-ents. The skill displayed by many of the young performers shows that there is an amount of promising talent in the ever-increasing roster of the music class. Nearly all the meinbers f rom the six-year old beginner to the aspirant as-pirant for gratuating honors acquitted themselves most creditably, and their graceful position, delicacy of touch, and technical execution evinced their responsiveness to the training they had received. Equally noted for marked improvement improve-ment is the voice culture in the vocal department. The members of this department de-partment are also steadily increasing, and the voices range in quality from the deep-sounding tones of Miss Colt-man's Colt-man's contralto to the clear-ringing notes of Miss Downey's soprano. In striking contrast to the feelings of nervousness to which many of the singers laid claim, were the calm dignity dig-nity and easy grace with which they rendered their various selections. The candidates for vocal laurels cannot can-not fail to be pleased at the enthusiasm their efforts always call forth whither it be at an entertainment or an examination. exam-ination.
