Show EUREKA. ' Christmas at St. Patrick's Santa - Claus at St. Joseph's School. Eureka Reporter, Dec. 28: The children chil-dren of St. Patrick's Sunday school gave a little entertainment complimentary compliment-ary to their parents, on Thursday afternoon. aft-ernoon. Old Santa Claus made his annual appearance ap-pearance and the cold north had not been able to congeal his joviality. The children greeted him and his reindeer with delight not entirely universal, however, as the latter inspired terror in some of the youngest ones. Old Santa was most liberal, and after a generous remembrance of the clergy, distributed well filled stockings to 160 expectant and happy children. The happiness of the children was reflected in the faces of their parents, and after faithful promises to return , again next year, Santa made his exit. " The services of Christmas day were as usual solemn and impressive. There was a High Mass at midnight and a sermon on the Nativity. The regular choir was ably assisted by Drs. Wade and Hensel, and Messrs. Dooly and Patten. The music was taken from Leonard's Mass in G and as an offertory offer-tory the Adeste Fideles were sung. That all was excellently rendered was attested by the large number of people peo-ple who assisted at the divine celebration. celebra-tion. Masses were said at 7, 7:30" a. m. and a second High Mass at 10 o'clock. I Ten new Acolytes served the last mass. $ The altar was artistically decorated . by members of the Altar society, Mes- dames P. Donnelly, J. H. McChrystal, T. D. Sullivan and others, and the , beautiful new vestments recently pro- ' cured by the society were used for the first time. ' |
