This was one of the most elaborate services ever celebrated cele-brated in the church. An immense congregation con-gregation filled every nook and corner of the church and many others could not enter. "As vespers Sunday evening-Father evening-Father Day of Helena delivered the sermon and the vespers was sung by the chorister boys. A quiet wedding took place Tuesday evening of last week at St. Patrick's church, when Miss Margaret O'Donnell. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William O'Donnell of 542 West Granite street, and Mr. William F. Meagher of St. Paul, were made one, the marriage lines being read by Rev. Father De Siere. Only the relatives of the couple were present. A wedding supper followed fol-lowed the ceremony, the table showing beautiful decorations of carnations and roses. The parlors also were decked in bright -and fragrant blossoms, i ne charming bride was stylishly attired in a gown of pastel blue French voile. She carried white roses and wore a white lace picture hat. She was attended by her sister, Mies Kittie O'Donnell, who was gowned in a mode colored voile and wore a cream lace hat. The groom was attended by Michael O'Donnell, brother of the bride. The groom is in the employ of the Great Northern, with headquarters at St. Paul, and holds an enviable reputation among his many friends. The fair bride has lived in this city for a number .of years, and by her true womanliness and sweet nature has won a wide circle of friends who extend ex-tend to her their wishes for a long and happy wedded life. air. and Mrs. Meagher left for Seattle and other coast cities, where they will sojourn for some weeks. About 7:30 Monday morning fire broke out in the residence of P. J. Brophy, C05 West Granite street, and for a time it looked like a dangerous blaze. Prompt work on the part of the fire department, depart-ment, however, saved the building from serious damage. Owing to the immense quantity of smoke it was hard to locate the flames, but they were finally found and put out by a stream from a large hose, after an hour's work. The" fire was caused by a lot of kindling wood catching fire from being piled too near the furnace. The loss is estimated at $300, fully covered by insurance. j. Miss Katherine R. McGullough and J. J. HLannon were married in St. Patrick's Pat-rick's church Wednesday morning, Nov. 16, at S o'clock.. Rev. Father De-Siere De-Siere read the marriage lines according to the Catholic ritual. The young couple are well known and have the good wishes"' of all their friends. Mr. and Mrs. Hannon will be at home to their" f fiends-in this city after returning from a short bridal trip. --" The handsome home of Mr. a,nd Mrs. C. M. Carroll, 415 Wet Galena street, was the scene of a happy social affair Thursday night of last week. Miss Frances Carroll , was the hostess. A number of the youthful friends were invited in-vited to spend -the evening informally. Music, games and dancing(ma.de up the programme of the evening and a merry time was the' , result. -. Refreshments were served at a late hour. , An event, of interest was the marriage mar-riage of Miss Emma' W. Keppner and Prof. Percival J. Cooney. in St. Patrick's Pat-rick's church:at 11 -o'clock Tuesday morning, Nov. 13. Rev. Father DeSiere officiating." The bride is the daughter of Mr. -arid Mrs. Adolph Keppner pf 60'J West Park street and has been a resident resi-dent of this city since childhood. She is a graduate of the Butte high school. The bridegroom is the- son, of H. W. Cooney of this city and is well known, here, where most of his life has been spent, although at present he is principal prin-cipal of the high school in Deadwood, S. D. After the ceremony the bridal. party went to the liome of the bride's, parents, par-ents, where -a delicious luncheon was enjoyed. Later the happy couple left for their home in Deadwood. where Prof, and Mrs. Cooney will be at home to their friends. f The women's auxiliary of the A. O. H. gave a whist party Thursday night of last week in Good Templar's hall on West Broadway. Fifty tables were filled. - Refreshments added to the enjoyment. enjoy-ment. Wilson was a charming charm-ing hostess last week at- an informal tea and card "party, given as a compliment compli-ment to Miss Clarke and Miss Cullen of Spokane. These pretty girls are at present; guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson and will be in; the city for a short time. The tea was given to afford tne friends of MrsWilson an opportunity to meets the guests of honor as well as to enjoy a delightful social hour. Cards were played and refreshments served. r.av. . !
