In the present age of sordidness and selfishness, a character who can forget self and aspire to things beyond the pale of human greed, stands forth in that refulgent glory which comes from constant labor-in the Lord's vineyard, and of whom it may he truly said when he has passed to eternal rest, "He lived to bless mankind." Crested Butte has, recently1, in the assignment ," of Father Deatcher, been blessed vvifh the presence of a worker in the holy service, who has, during the brief period he has been with us everlastingly ever-lastingly endeared himself to all by hi? exemplification of the higher and better bet-ter life. He has. labored .unceasingly to the end that the sphere and influence of the church might lie enlarged. To this end and by dint of Herculean efforts ef-forts along the line of instilling some of his fire of enthusiasm into the hearts of his parishioner!?, he has already raised by popular subscription and public pub-lic entertainment, the sum of $1,700 which is being expended In the work of remodeling St. Patrick's church that the congregation may be better accommodated. accom-modated.
