Show pueblo; colo. Franciscan. Sisters Thank Patrons of Sacred Heart Orphanage. We beg to thank all the kind hearted people-of Pueblo for having so generously gener-ously assisted in making the recent fajr for the benefit of th" Sacred Heart orphanage or-phanage a mos-t valuable success. To our special gratitude are entitled, in the first place, the members of the Ladies' Aid. society under whose auspices aus-pices -the fair has been conducted. Th satisfactory result is undoubtedly due chiefly to the unremitting efforts of their president, Mrs. McGovern. and secretary, Mrs. G. Hogan. assisted by the fair committee consisting of Mrs. T. Llovd. vice president: J. F. Vail, treas urer, and F. H. Frankenburg. secretary. Then the Business Men's association for the free use of their meeting hall j by the committee. Mr. Barnum fori the free use of the Armory h ill: J. F. j Vaile. who donated th" electric lights for the occasion: the different business I firms in the city for the articles do- j naled to be exhibited at the various-booths, various-booths, or disMinsod of in contests and chances. Likewise. John McDonald, as floor manager, and George Hogan. as doorkeeper,- at the fair. Also the ladies , who-had volunteered their help by taking tak-ing charge of the elaborate booths. The work which has been going on for some months past had aroused great interest in the whole community. The fair has been well attended by the numerous friends of our orphans, several sev-eral enthusiastic contestants being engaged en-gaged in friendly rivalry to make the 1 best showing of their efforts. Thanks to the daily press of Pueblo, giving the ( movement wide publicity free of charge, the noble res-pnnse to the request re-quest for assistaifoe has been met witn very liberal support. Owing to the encouragement by their ' pastors, the good people of several parishes par-ishes have been vieing with each other to do their share." While we are to a large extent indebted for the, successful success-ful results to whom all contributed, we feel in a special way bound to express ex-press our appreciation to a number of members of St. Mary's parish in the grove, and their able pastors., who have left nothing undone that might be of. help-to our poor little charges, they deserve de-serve much credit for their; praiseworthy praise-worthy generosity. Work on all the lines arranged by the fair committee has been rather hard, indeed, considering the still unsatisfactory unsatis-factory conditions in local business for some time past, but the results are gratifying, enough to insure satisfaction satisfac-tion to the committee on arrangements whose endeavors throughout have beei, remarkably unsparing to render the occasion oc-casion attractive and memorable. Xo-body Xo-body doubts that custody of our 110 children is a matter of great expense. A great deal has been and is being done, through the quiet charity of individuals, in-dividuals, but much remained to be done before tlW institution could successfully suc-cessfully pass the. long winter. A most substantial help has been rendered us bv this our first nublie anneal for heln. We once morp earnestly and sincerely extend our heartfelt sentiments of gratitude grat-itude and thankfulness to every one and all who have shown interest in helping along our good cause. Our prayers, together with those of our grateful charges will ever be directed to call God's choicest blessings upon all our benefactors. FRAXCISCAX SISTEBS. |
