Show City Projects Reviewed In Report STREET AND CURBING COVERED IN SURVEY $8,000 WPA Project City Sponsored On Old Opera House Totals on the amount of new wa. ter pipe line, new sidewalks, anil curbing laid ' Preston during the past biannum was reported in a Burvey recently completed by city officials covering the projects recently re-cently completed or now underway. Water pipe lines, totaled. 12,918 Jeet, sewage lines 9.992 feet, sidewalks side-walks 11,718 linear feet. 30,000 feet of street surfacing, and 13,945 feet of curbing, the report shows. The street from, the Franklin Stake house to U. S. 30 has been opened and graveled, a road from . Fourth South to the Sixth ward has been opened, and the street north of the ball park has been improved, im-proved, the report shows, and one-mile one-mile of right-of-way on the new Preston-Grace highway has been purchased and fenced by the city. Construction on the city's $32,0,00 sewage disposal plant made satisfactory satis-factory headwayt'the past year, but is slowed down now due to bad weather. Of this amount, ?15,0()0 Is for materials and the balance for WPA labor. The city's intention of developing the lots back of the courthouse and the area behind Main street stores Into a parking lot was contained In the notation regarding the present pres-ent status offthe project. Through cooperation with the 'county commissioners, com-missioners, preliminary steps have been taken to develop a parking lot and the lots are ready for development de-velopment as such this spring.
