Show UISB RECEIVES INDIAN EXHIBIT POCATELLO, Ida Among the recent interesting exhibits given to Idaho Southern University museum, according to Dr. Charlton G. Laird, curator, are some recordings of the songs and tales of the Fort Hall Indians. These recordings are a part of the work recently done by Dr. Sven Liljeblad, and will constitute, said. Dr. Laird, "the finest group of evidence that has ever been collected col-lected on, the Fort Hall Indians." Dr. Sven Liljeblad is a folk loreist and anthropologist, and naw has a fellowship with the American Scandinavian Foundation. He has been doing work in connection with the Fort Hall Indians. During Dur-ing the Christmas holidays, Dr. Liljeblad Lil-jeblad brought to the university an SO-year-oid Indian acquainted with the old Shoshone stories, and who is an eloquent story teller, telling the Shoshone tales in gestures ges-tures as well as in the tribal tongue. Said Dr. Laird, "We recorded a number of these stories concerning the mythology of the local Indians, and made recordings of some Indian In-dian songs" n - n |
