Show GROWTH OF DANCE GIVEN IN FESTIVAL Pupils of the Jefferson school presented their annual program for paients in the High School iMiditorium Wednesday evening, November 12. It coiiKi.'.ted of a song and dance festival, which was sponsored by the Parent-Teachers' association and was scheduled as one of the events for American Education Ed-ucation Week. Mrs. Harold Hawkes, P.T.A. sponsor, spon-sor, presided. Opening proyer was given by A. E. Bell followed by a preliminary talk by E. Ii. Spilsbury on "The Growth of the i'reston City School System." , The main program featured the historical development of the dnrcc. Each group was attired in full costume. The two, third fit ados demonstrated natural body movemr.il Is. The fourth grades were responsible for the Indian anil the Dutch dances. Three firth grade classes danced the Colonial Minuet, the Pioneer and the Cowboy Cow-boy dances. Modern dances; the FoxTrot, the Tango and La Conno v.crf demonstrated by the ;-ix!h grade boys and girls. Tap dances were given by Geraldine Crocuett :ind Faje Mendenhall. As the concluding number, the entire group of three hundred and twenty children assembled on the stage and sang "America" and "God Bless America." The reader were Max Beil and F, ocholle Petersen. Miss Florence Goodllffe directed with all home room teachers cooperating. |
