Show Oneida Stake Changes Made A rich foundation of religious and civic experience forms the background of leaders who have been brought to the forefront of Oneida stake, a reorganization having been effected in quarterly conference in Preston Sunday by Elder Chares A. Callis of Salt Lake City, a member of the council of the Twelve Apostles. Paul R. Wynn, local businessman and for tle past two and one-half years first counselor in the stake presidency, very humbly accepted the office of president of the Oneida Onei-da stake, succeeding George E. Burgi whom the First Presidency of the church released because ot '.his failing health. The new stake president, prior to his appointment as first counselor in April of 1939 to President Burgi, had served as a counselor In the Fourth ward bishopric for two and one half years. Before that he had been a member of the Oneida stake M. L A. superintendency. P. H. Edgley was, elevated from the position of second counselor to first counselor. Named as second sec-ond counselor to Mr. Wynn was J. Clifford Forsgren, Preston mayor and bishop of the Fourth ward from 1929 to 3G. Mr. Forsgren, social science instructor at Preston Pres-ton high school was released, from his position in the high council. F. A. Fackrell, stake clerk since 1933 was retained in his position. "President Burgi retires in the glory of service," ElderCalliasaid, "his work has been deeply satisfactory satis-factory to tiie church authorities who concluded it would betrespass-ing betrespass-ing on prudence to ask him to continue con-tinue in service," Elder Callis said. In his response President Wynn acknowledged the weight of his new responsibility. Ezra C. Knowlton of the church welfare coinmiltuu accompanied Elder Callis to the conference and was one of' the speakers during both Sunday sessions. Elder Callis in his eloquence thrilled the 300 Primary children who furnished Uie singing at the two Sunday sessions under the di-'rection di-'rection of Mrs. Goldie Chri.stensen of IJanida accompanied by Mrs. Clarice Iledin of Winder ward. He will live long in their memory. Approximately nine hundred persons per-sons were in attendance at the Sunday afternoon meeting. O n |
