U P. P camp we chronicle some of the outstanding ac accomplishments ac- ac which are the creating of five local camps one at Parowan one at Paragonah and three in Cedar City If any later camps have been made we have not received the data S Sept pt 30 1927 the County Camp gave a program in the city park crating the seventy fifth anniversary since the first molten iron was run off by the pioneer iron workers near the spot where here the program was given The ground was dedicated by Bp E. E M. M Corry where it was as proposed placing a monument honoring that great a a- A movement was begun at once to acquire the necessary funds by entertainments and selling tickets for lor I a trousseau chest We wrote to the general authorities of the L. L D. D S. S church of our plans asking for lor suggestions suggestions sug sug- and help financially 1 if not contrary to regulations Pres Heber J J. J Grant Orant replied that the cause was wasso wasso wasso so praiseworthy that if It the organization tion would secure half the needed funds the church would add the re remaining remaining remaining re- re half That encouragement helped us to feel we had undertaken a laudable achievement we began working working work work- ing ing- with renewed effort ellort never lagging nor saving ourselves night or day the monument was finished and dedicated Sept 29 1928 at a cost of the wool flag nag for lor the flag nag pole cost 1200 shrubs to surround the pole 1000 During the year ear 1929 the same camp had built a relic enclosure in the ju juvenile juvenile ju- ju venile venUe department of the public library at a cost of 1500 leaving a balance on deposit for the Memorial Committee to use in honoring deceased captains This was accomplished without making making mak mak- ing inroads upon the organizations organization's treasury Every dollar was collected by contributions specially for lor the pur pur- pose April 20 20 1928 the Memorial Committe Commit Commit- te planted two twe beautiful weeping willow willow willow wil- wil low trees near the Pioneer Cab Cabin n in inthe inthe I Ithe the park honoring two departed captains captains captains cap cap- capI I Sarah Ann H.
