Show EYSTON GAINS BACK LOST SPEED RECORD John Cobb Holds Record for Twenty Four Hours New Record 357.5 Miles: Per hour. I i After John Cobb, English sportsman, sports-man, captured the land speed ' record by racing his "Railton" over the Bonneville Salt Flats at a speed of 3505 miles per hour ; Thursday morning, George E. T. lEyston went back to the flats Friday morning and thundered the Thunderbolt over the flats at a speed of 357.50. miles per hour. Early in August Eyston piloted the Thunderbolt over the salt flats at a speed of 345.49 miles per hour over the measured mile. Cobb took this record from Eyston Thursday morning and then Eyston Ey-ston came right back Friday to recapture the title. This will likely ; be Eyston's last run this season.! There was a large crowd estimat- ed at 5,000 out to the flats to watch the Thunderbolt whizz by, them over the mile in approximately approxi-mately ten seconds. ' |
