Show HUNDREDS GO OUT IN QUEST OF GAME FISH Canyon Atmosphere and Attractive Camp Grounds I Afford Game Seekers their j Recreation. I Those in charge of the camp ' grounds in our various canyons re-I re-I ceived the plaudits of fishermen I Sunday, the opening day of toe ! trout fishing season in Utah. Lo-;gan Lo-;gan and Blacksmith Fork canyons were literally lined with fishermen, I with but few getting the thing they went after. The fish are not in our streams. jThey have been caught out in I such quantities in the past that : j few remain to be caught. True. I we plant a large number of fish jin our streams but they are! I planted at such times that they l have little chance to survive, is the theory of most of the fisher-j men. j j The recreation spots in Black- j smith Fork canyon from the Utah: I Power and Light Dam to the. I Hardware ranch on Sunday were) j all filled to capacity with fisher-1 men and those who went to the : I canyon for a spring outing. The! camp grounds are beautiful this time of year, with grass covered floors and shady trees. Many ofl those in this canyon were fromj other parts of the state as well; as our own Cache county citizens, j Fishing what little there was, was spoiled by water heavily charged charg-ed with mud and clay. A recent storm roiled the water badly. The Hyrum City municipal light plant dam in Blacksmith Fork canyon was covered with boats. Fishermen, however, caught veiy few fish and those caught were of the fingerling variety. Fishing was legally suspended i west of the Hyrum dam by executive ex-ecutive order. The spilling basin, had previously been seined and the! spawners removed from the. county coun-ty to the hatcheries in other" parts, of the state where the spawn will be taken and sent back to us in fry for another years planting. On the two dams in Logan canyon can-yon there were boats galore. The sides of the dams were lined with fishermen. An occasional trout was lured upon a hook, but considering con-sidering the number of fishermen seeking to make a catch, it is estimated es-timated by some that an average of one fish to a person would be putting the number caught plenty high. There were a few fortunate ones who made good catches. Andrew An-drew Nyman, veteran lumberman, get- a couple of nice ones in the vicinity of the Fox Farm. Jerry Maughan exhibited a nice string. Some of the McC.ulloch brothers pcaught a few nice ones, i When the number of fishemen are considered along with the catches made, the sale of fishing licenses is nothing short of a i racket in these parts.
