Show Census Reports On Drainage Projects A drainage bulletin for Utah, recently re-cently issued by the Bureau of Census, Cen-sus, containing state and county statistics, sta-tistics, shows the organized drainage drain-age enterprises in the state as covering cover-ing 156,052 acres. Of this amount 137,902 acres comprise improved and 18,090 acres unimproved land-There land-There were 142,941 acres sufficiently well drained to raise a normal crop; 7,51 1 acres fit for a partial crop, and 5,600 acres unfit to raise a crop because be-cause of lack of drainage. There were 109,518 acres in occupied occu-pied farms, 90,368 acres in planted crops, and 60,946 idle acres in the,; enterprises. The drainage works included 301 miles of ditches, and 1,914 miles of tile drains. The capital invested In these enterprises was $1,772,000, an average of $30.58 per acre. There were 32 drainage enterprises enterpris-es in the state, with an average area of 4,877 acres. Of this number, 7 contained con-tained 6,000 acres or more, 24 contained con-tained from 500 to 5,000 acres, and one was under 500 acres. Approximately 66 per cent of th land was in enterprises reported as in arrears in payment of principal or interest on bonds or other obligations. obliga-tions. The land reported delinquent in drainage taxes amounted to 95,513 acres. Enterprises organized between 1915 and 1925 contained 93 per cent of the land in organized projects, while approximately ap-proximately 4 per cent of the land was in enterprises organized between 1925 and 1930.
