Mr. Moffitt enumerated many projects that could be started and has urged the members of the Gunnison City council to take the matter up and let the city enjoy the benefits of the vast monies that are being awarded under the FERA. Grading streets, sidewalks, painting paint-ing school houses and public buildings, build-ings, or any work that concerns public pub-lic property, can be worked in under this relief plan, Mr. Moffitt stated, and the heads of the departments at Washington are urging that every community having dependents avail themselves of the monies that are now being spent throughout the nation. na-tion. Two projects for Gunnison, the grading, leveling and shaling of tht sidewalks, and the building of a tennis ten-nis court at the Gunnison Valley high school, have been approved and when the proper time comes work will be started. Application to have a water ditch created in front of the high school building has been made, and will likely be approved. At present there is no drain for the waters and pools accumulate causing mud, which students are forced to walk through, and the condition is distressing. At the next council meeting, Mayor Modeen stated, more projects are to be worked out in order to supply work for those in need. |
