Show Closing Schedule Set By Merchants Controversies regarding the closing clos-ing of Gunnison stores on state and national holiday celebrations during j the past, have been amicably adjust- ed and hereafter there will be unison I among the merchants on the days set j apart to be observed. This decision I was reached Monday evening when nine of the leading heads of stores in the city met at the Gunnison Valley Val-ley bank building to discuss matters pertaining to holidays. Several voices were heard at the meeting and after lenghty discussions a plan was worked work-ed out whereby much ill feeling will be eliminated. Eight holidays will be observed during the year, and the schedule set hv the merchants for 1931, w'.ll be as follows: Arbor day, designated by the governor, gov-ernor, one-half day. Memorial day, May 30, all day. Independence day, July 4th, all day. Pioneer day, July 2-1 th, all day. Labor day, September 7th, all day. Armistice day, November 11th, all day. Thanksgiving day, November 26th, all day. Christmas day, December 25th, all day. The plan adopted by the local merchants mer-chants has been in vogue in many of the cities and towns in Southern Utah and has proven a boon to all concerned. concern-ed. The full cooperation shown by the citizens here will create a better feeling feel-ing and eventually clear the track for better conditions all around. |
