Show Employment Bureau Started In Sanpete A Sanpete county office of the National Na-tional Reemployment service was recently re-cently established by Geo. A. Yager, Utah state director of the National Reemployment service. The local office of-fice will be located at Manti. Joseph Matson was appointed manager man-ager of the Sanpete county office. The local reemployment committee consists of Glen A. Jensen and Frank Maylett of Manti, N. L. Hermansen of Gunnison, Walter Hardy of Moroni, N. R. Smith of Mt. Pleasant, and Wells Thompson of Ephraim. It was explained by Mr. Yager, the Utah state director, that all employees em-ployees on public works projects, whether whe-ther highway, municipal, county, school districts or state, must be obtained ob-tained through the offices in the various var-ious counties, and only men who are residents of a given county may be used on projects within that county, t provided qualified workers are obtain- j able. Where qualified workers are not obtainable, they will be exchanged between be-tween counties through the state director's di-rector's office, Mr. Yager said. The National Reemployment service ser-vice is very closely coordinated with the NRA, he further stated, and no employer can obtain an exemption! from the president's reemployment agreement based upon lack, of quali- j fied workers without a letter from his office to the employer in question, stating that qualified workers are un-obtainable. un-obtainable. This move on the part of j the NRA is to prevent misrepresen- j tation being made by employers who wish to extend the hours of labor in this industry. Public works projects, Mr. Yager said, cannot be depended upon to solve the whole problem of reemployment reemploy-ment of the unemployed, due to the ! fact that in a great many instances they can not be started until next , year, and because of the fact that, they represent only a small portion j of the building program of normal j years. It is therefore necessary that business absorb the greater number, of the plate's unemployed through re- ducing the hours of labor, and live i strictly within the code of the indus- j try in question. It was also emphasized that in! cases where funds are allocated by the public works administration to the various federal bureaus, to states and counties, and to school districts and private interests, all the labor must be recruited from state reem-(Continued reem-(Continued on last page) i JfMT Citizens Nominate j Party Candidates (Continued from' page 1) tion for the 4-year term councilman. The successful candidates for the 2-year councilmen were Axel Modeen, Erwin Roberts and LaBriel Pickett. In the selection of a campaign committee, com-mittee, Mrs. Ira Overfelt was chosen as chairman. Mrs. L. J. Kidman, Mrs. J. M. Knighton, Floyd Childs and Howard Roberts will assist Mrs. Over-felt Over-felt in outlining the campaign work and fill any vacancy that may occur through resignation or declination of any of -the officers named. |
