Show Producers Warned Against Fake Cures Utah producers are warned against "smooth-tongued" medicine men who i seek to "fleece" patrons with fake poultry remedies, is a statement of caution issued recently by Clyde C. Edmonds, manager for the Utah Poultry Producers Cooperative association. asso-ciation. Bogus traveling . peddlers arc virtually vir-tually stealing the profits of many association members by selling remedies, reme-dies, many of them worthless, at outrageous out-rageous prices. Many of the "quacks" find markets mar-kets for their cure-alls by dramatically dramatic-ally playing on the producers' fear of the disease danger. Some of th remedies, though they have merit as disease preventatives and. cures, are pried as high as ten tipies their actual ac-tual values. At a recent conference of the entire en-tire staff of poultry veterinarians serving the Utah Poultry association, medicines necessary for the control and prevention of diseases in flock were discussed in detail. The experts were unanimously in favor of reducing reduc-ing costs of these remedies to (he producers by purchasing the ingrwl-iorts ingrwl-iorts in bulk and compounding the various mixtures. With this end in view the state poultry association is establishing a cf-ntral laboratory from whence th medicines will be distributed to tho unit warehouses for redistribution to individuals. The warning and action of the state association is not taken to ruin legitimate business operating on a j fair return basis but rather to pre- vert further exploitation of members ! that has occurred so frequently in j the past. Producers are urged to demand de-mand of all salesmen.a JeUer of en-1 en-1 dorsement from the U"tah$ssociation. Veterinarians are erigaged by the association as-sociation to render mernbers service in sanitation, disease 'prevention and cure, and to minimze medicine costs as well. |
