Show Valley Towns Will Honor, Pioneer Residents of Utah Centerfield Will Celebrate July 24 Depiction of the early pioneers will be vividly portrayed in an array of floats, hand carts and other modes ( of travel used when the Utah Pio-j Pio-j neers wended their way across the plains to settle Utah, in a parade that will form part of Centerfield's Poineer day fete Wednesday of next week. Sixteen or more floats will be seen in the parade, and in addition to the pioneer floats, many of the business houses will be represented, and it is expected that, with the parade, par-ade, a patriotic meeting, races, horse-pulling horse-pulling contests and other events, Centerfield will draw a huge crowd. The parade will start at 9 o'clock. In it will be the Pioneer floats, Indians, In-dians, a string of Indian ponies, children's band and other floats representing rep-resenting church organizations. The Pioneer day program has been set for ten-thirty, and will be held at the Centerfield meeting house. Before starting the program an exhibition of "old-time" dancing, in which several sev-eral couples will be entered, will be given on the lawn in front of the chapel. The afternoon exercises will start; with a free dancing party for all ! children at 1 o'clock. The sports pro- j gram is scheduled to start at 2:30,1 and will include races and other stunts for all. Some speedy horse races are being arranged, and one of the big features will be horse-pulling costests, single and double. Six double teams from the county have been entered, and with Centerfield noted for fancy pulling pull-ing animals, this contest will be of intense interest. Heads of the various committees arranging for the Pioneer day celebration cele-bration are: Leonard Jensen, chairman chair-man parade committee; Mariel Hansen, Han-sen, chairman sports committee; Ross Peterson, chairman of concessions, and Mrs. Alton Jensen and Mrs.. John Jensen in charge of the program. The celebration is being staged by the Centerfield Sunday - school, announced an-nounced Mariel Hansen, Sunday school superintendent, and the funds gathered will be used to purchase song books and chairs for the primary pri-mary and kindergarten. |
