Show Engineers Foster Mining Industry It is the policy of the Utah Engineering Engin-eering Station of the Department of mining and metallurgical research situated at the University of Utah to keep all those who are interested in mining industries informed on subjects of this nature. The University Univer-sity of Utah is cooperating with these government organizations in fostering activities which will promote pro-mote an interest in one of the greatest great-est industries in the state of Utah. It is in connection with this policy that an invitation is extended to all engineers and mining men of the state to attend two feature lectures. Dr. C. A. Helland, Professor of Geophysics, Colorado School of Mines, and J. J. Jakosky, consulting engineer of the Radiore Company, will lecture in the ballroom of the Hotel Newhouse, Salt Lake City, Wednesday and Thursday, February 15 and 16th, 8:15 P. M., on the subject sub-ject of Geophysical Prospecting. Dr. Heiland will speak Wednesday and Mr. Jakosky Thursday. These men ai-e authorities in this field and will deliver their discussions discus-sions under the auspices of the Department De-partment of .Mining and Metallurgical Metallurgi-cal Research of the University of Utah, and the Utah Society of Engineers; En-gineers; and in cooperation with the Engineering Council of Utah, the Utah Chapter of the Ameerican Mining Min-ing Congress, the Utah Section of the American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers, and the Mining Committee of the Chamber of Commerce. The subject of geophysical prospecting pros-pecting has engaged the attention of the mining industry to a great extent ex-tent of late, and these lecturers will deal with the development and ap-! ap-! plication of the various processes now in use, and the extent of their value to the industry' . |
