Show Utah's Fancy Cattle Top Greatest Market A sensation was produced at the Chicago Union Stock Yards Monday, August 12th, when a consignment, i f high quality cattle, bred and fed in Utah, sold for $17.00 per cwt., which is the extreme top for the year. I.. E. Ellison of Layton, Davis County, Coun-ty, Utah, had four cars of cattle on the Chicago market that day. Sixteen head, averaging 1537 pounds, sold for $17 00 per cwt; 18 head, averaging 1537 lbs., sold for 10.75 and the remaining re-maining 30 head, averaging 1312 lb1,, realized $10.65. These cattle were fed on barley, corn, chopped alfalfa and a little syrup, syr-up, mixed together and fed from a self-feeder. The record price brought by the heavy end indicates that the cattle were both highly finished and of top quality. This concrete illustration is proof of the rapid strides which have been nvule in the west in feeding out cattle .:t home for the Chicago market. |
