Show Utah Is Leader In Butter Fat Product Utah holds first place among the states of the Union in butter fat production pro-duction per cow on test in dairy-herd improvement associations in 1927-28, according to a release just received at the U. S. A. C. extension office from the bureau of dairy industi-y at Washington, D. G. With five associations the cows in Utah averaged 343 pounds of butter fat per cow. Nevada is second on the list with one association and an av-j erage of 343 pounds of fat and Wash- J ington, with twelve associations, ties for honors with Nevada. Oregon is fourth with 14 associations, averaging averag-ing 325 pounds of butter fat per cow. There are 34 states listed on the report with 1034 associations. Eight other states will be included in the 1928-29 report, according to the statistician sta-tistician of the bureau. The five associations reporting j from Utah are all operating in Cache Valley: Hyrum-Paradise; Wellsville-College; Wellsville-College; Central, incuding Logan and Benson; Riehmond-Lewiston, ar.d Lewiston-Cornish. During the past year dairy herd improvement associations have been organized -in Hyde Park, Cache county; coun-ty; a four-couty association, including includ-ing Boxelder, Weber, Morgan and Davis; one for Salt Lake and Sum-mitt Sum-mitt counties; one for Utah-Wasatcn and one for Sanpete and Sevier. j ! |
