Show THE OUTLOOK FOR MINING. "Signs of the times point unerringly unerring-ly to the fact that metal mining is walking right into a boom period that nothing can stop," says the Mining Min-ing Review. "We have been calling attention to this steadily expanding movement for months; we want to emphasize it now." The word "boom" in this connection connec-tion may be a trifle strong, but only the most pessimistic could hold fears for mining's future. There is a substantial sub-stantial amount of industrial expansion expan-sion going on; public works are underway; un-derway; greatly accelerated home construction is anticipated. Mining will share in all such activities in this modern industrial age of ours we are vitally dependent upon the metals. We literally live surrounded by copper, cop-per, zinc, lead, etc. Practically everything every-thing we make or buy or use involves them. Better times for mining would; mean better times for farmers, workers work-ers of alll kinds, storekeepers, pro-( pro-( fessional people in brief, better times for everyone. Mining is normally normal-ly a great employer, a great tax-1 payer, a great creator of purchasing! power. If it comes back, we will have taken a long step nearer to recovery. |
