Show Brood Sows Should Be Fed Very Little Grain Brood sows should be given very little grain for 24 hours after farrowing farrow-ing but should have all the water they desire. The first feed given after farrowing far-rowing should be limited in amount and fed as a thin slop. The amount fed Is increased gradually as the pigs need more milk, until in 10 or 15 days the sow is being fed all she will eat. The brood sow's ration during the suckling period should be slightly laxative lax-ative and provide for increased milk production to meet the needs of the pigs. |
