Show Cards' Double 10 Looks Like New Scoring Mark Making 2S runs and 2S hits in the second game of a double-header with the Phillies, the St. Louis Cardinals apparently made only one record, that of scoring 10 runs in each of two innings, in-nings, but they compiled the biggest total of tallies made in a major league game by one team since the adoption of the foul-strike rule in 1901. The Chicago Nationals made 36 runs against Louisville, June 29, 1897, while the ruott hits in a single game by one team is also 30, made by the Phillies against Louisville, August 17, 1S94. The Yankees made the American league record for mist hits, 30, on September 28, 1923, while Cleveland holds the American league scoring record, of 27, made July 7, 1923. The Red Sox were the victims in both In-' stances. |
