Show Fayette Nimrods Stage Rabbit Hunt Monday proved an interesting holiday hol-iday with the sportsmen of Fayette when a hotly contested rabbit hunt was staged. The affair was hurriedly hurried-ly arranged, challenges made and soon the fields around the town were alive with hunters. The respective captains of the two bands of hunters, Arley Anderson and Elmer Bartholomew, Bartholo-mew, had the understanding that the losers were to provide music, a hall and the necessary entertainment for a dancing party. With this in view the two teams did some real hustling and, incidentally some real shooting. In all there were thirty-nine hunters and when the final count was made, it was found that a tie had been seored, each team bringing in 256 rabbits, or a total of 612. The dance, notwithstanding the even score, will be 1 held and the hunters will revel to sweet music at the Fayette amusement amuse-ment hall Friday night. Chas. H. Pickett, one of the hunters, hunt-ers, received slight wounds on his hand and breast when a volley of shot from the gun wielded by Floyd Bartholomew, struck him. Mr. Pickett Pick-ett was some distance away and fortunately only a couple of shot buried themselves in his right hand. The Fayette hunters, and none have ever hunted in the jungles of Africa, are proud of their record and so much so, that they have issued a defi to any set of hunters in the county. This challenge is particularly directed direct-ed to Gunnison nimrods, and Mr. Anderson will be mighty glad to arrange ar-range for a contest with Gunnison hunters. |
