I LOCAL ITEMS j t OF INTEREST -I 1- j Mr. and Mrs. bean I'.avvdin and son, Billy, of Salt Lake, came down from Uie north Saturday night and are spending this week at the home of -Mr. and Mrs. George Francis. Mr. Ilawden, who was stricken with pneumonia pneu-monia a few weeks ago, is convalescing convales-cing rapidly and will soon be able to be back on his job. Mr. and Mrs. Alvie Peterson b-l't. for tin; capital city Monday, where they visited with friends and relatives rela-tives until Wednesday evening. They were accompanied by IHianc Stevens Ste-vens of Los Angeles, who has been visiting at the Peterson home. Mi'. Stevens was a classmate of Mr. Peterson Pe-terson when the two were attending thi! embalming school at Los Angeles.. An-geles.. The I laughters of the Pioneers of the (.'ciilerf ield ward entertained for their daughters at a social in the ( 'enterl'ield meeting house Thursday of last week. A delightful time was had by all at old-time- dances, playing play-ing games, and enjoying an entertaining enter-taining program. Refreshments were served to seventy. j Some sixteen close lriends gathered gather-ed at the home of Mrs. Kimbal Lars-en Thursday evening of last week, when she entertained in honor of her birthday anniversary. Progressive Progres-sive bridge was the pastime of the evening, and high score prizes were awarded to Mrs. Geo. Last and Mrs. Kay llermansen, with the consolation going to Mrs. Geo. Francis. At ten o'clock the hostess served a dainty luncheon at small tables. Mrs. Larson Lar-son was presented with many beautiful beau-tiful gifts as remembrances of the occasion. Members of the S. O. M. II. club were guests of Miss Edna Jensen at her home Thursday evening of last week. Fancy needlework was the pastime of the evening, following which Miss Jensen served luncheon to eight. V Geo. S. Francis, president of the local Townsend cub, and Orion Sor-enson Sor-enson of Axtell, were delegates from the local club who aided in the organization organ-ization of a similar club at Sterling-Wednesday Sterling-Wednesday evening of last week. Some twenty close friends were guests at the home of Mrs. J. B. Roper Ro-per Friday afternoon of last week, when Mrs. Roper and Mrs. J. S. Peterson Pe-terson were hostesses at an afternoon after-noon of bridge. A delicious hot dinner din-ner was served at small tables at 1:30, with carnations being used as centerpieces for the tables. Following the dinner the guests enjoyed a spirited spir-ited game of bridge, with score prizes going to Mrs. L. G. Anderson i.Ju. Jcncn. Mrs. Mac Peterson was hostess for the members of the Treas Jouli club Thursday afternoon of last week from one-thirty until five. Bridge was the pastime of the afternoon, and Mrs. L. G. Anderson and Mrs. Oscar Tolck captured prii.es for high scores. Mrs. Peterson served a dainty dain-ty luncheon to sixteen guests. -y Mrs. J. B. Roper was hostess to twelve friends at dinner and an afternoon af-ternoon of bridge Monday. Dinner was served at one-thirty on small tables, carnations being used as centerpiece cen-terpiece decorations. Bridge was the diversion of the afternoon, and score prizes went to Mrs. W. H. Farr and Mrs. J. A. Hagan. Mrs. Ira Overf elt, accompanied by her daughter, Miss Lois Overfelt, of the nursing corps at the Salina hospital, hos-pital, motored to Salt Lake Monday morning. They completed the round trip during the day. I : Miss Dorothy Borg visited with re'atives and friends in the capital city last week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Newell B. Sanders and son, Bob, of Bakersfield, Calif., were guests for a few days this week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hart Sanders at Spearmint. Newell and Hart are brothers, and the visit was the first they had enjoyed for ; some time past. |
