Show Builder of factory Passes at Salt Lake Max Daniels, who some 1G years I -ago organized the Gunnison Sugar company, at that time known as the Gunnison Valley Sugar company, and widely known in this section, as well as being a prominent business and 'mining man throughout Utah, is 1 dead. Mr. Daniels passed away at his home at Rait Lake Monday, following a lingering illness of carcinoma. More than 15 years ago Mr. Daniels' 'visited this valley for the purpose of j making a survey of the possibilities I of building a sugar mill, and with the loy al support of the citizens the pro- ji ct was started and in a period of time completed. He interested Wm. ; Wrigley, Jr., in the enterprise, and the latter purchased the million dollar dol-lar plant, and since that time the plant has been operated by the Wrigley Wrig-ley interests. Besides the sugar industry, in-dustry, Mr. Daniels was prominently identified in mining throughout Utah, Nevada and Idaho. Mr. Daniels will be remembered by many in Gunnison and Centerfield through his operations in projecting the building of the sugar factory. He was a native of Poland, and was born May 22, 1875. FOR RETIRING BISHOP. Leslie J. Kidman, who is retiring from the bishopric of the Gunnison ward, will be the guest of honor at a party to be given at the City hall next Monday evening. The affair is j being sponsored by the new bishop- ric and other church organizations in ! the ward. The public in general is invited in-vited to be present and enjoy the fine program, light refreshments and a number of games. |
