Show Wheat Allotment Plan Is Analyzed a It should be remembered that the wheat allotment plan is a proposition that was initiated first by farmer:-, says J. Earl Palmer, emergency assistant, as-sistant, and the plan as outlined by the government is almost an exact form made by the wheat farmers of the west. Therefore, farmers who enter en-ter the Wheat Production Control association as-sociation are not only in line with their national organization, but they are participating in a high type of loyalty. It is every farmer's duty as well as privilege to enter the scheme and help put it into effect. The 'organization to carry the contract con-tract through is that of farmers themselves. them-selves. Committees are appointed by them to aid with the educational campaign, cam-paign, in distributing applications and in filling them out where assistance i is needed. The committee will also assist as-sist in checking over applications and distributing contracts. The permanent county committee has final authority in passing on the allotment of each individual farmer. The committee will also pass on the names to be published i of the farmers who have made appli-j j cation for tho contract, and later make j up the list for publication of names who have actually signed the contract, i The expenses of the committee are to' be met by a reduction in the commission com-mission of the individuals who par-I par-I ticipate in the allotment plan. Those ; eligible to participation in the new j (Continued on last page) j Wheat Allotment Plan Is Analyzed (Continued from page 1) plan are wheat fanners, owners or renters who grew wheat during the base period of 1930, 1931, 1932. It was during these years that the great surpluses sur-pluses of wheat were piled up in the United States and the allotment is computed on the basis of the wheat produced during these years. May I emphasize the fact that adjustment ad-justment payments are not paid for the wheat already grown during the base years, but for the farmer agreeing agree-ing to reduce his acreage during the next two years, until the p:led up surpluses sur-pluses can be disposed of. If the wheat farmers of Sanpete county enter the agreement they will receive a total of $42,425, of which over $30,000 will be received by September 20th. This money will go a long way in paying taxes this fall and meeting other expenses ex-penses incident to the starting of the schools. |
