Until a few days before the time set for the primaries there was but little activity, and candidates can-didates seemed to be scarce. Now, however, with two tickets in the field, matters are taking on an attitude of more sincerity and "the fight is on." At the Republican primary, held at the City hall Saturday night, a ticket was named and harmony prevailed. There was but one candidate for the office of mayor, and June Metcalf, the only nominee, was placed on the ticket by acclamation. Dr. G. Stanford Stan-ford Reies was accorded the same courtesy, and without opposition won the nomination for the four-year term councilman. In the selection) of three 2-year councilmen, eight nominations were made. The first ballot settled the matter and Newell Clrlds, Dan Borg and Harold Christenson, incumbent, were voted in. Merrill Peterson had but little opposition op-position when he sought the nomination nomina-tion for city recorder, while Mrs. Harold Halverson was nominated by acclamation. Ira Overfelt, banker, at the Democratic Demo-cratic primary held at the L. D. S. chapel Saturday n'ght, was without opposition, and he was nominated for mayor by acclamation.
