Show Bank President Foully Murdered Andrew N. Bjerregaard, 85 years of age, and president of the Bank of Ephraim, was found dead at. his home early Wednesday morning. The man's head was ; beaten to a pulp and the breast : and hands were badly burned. Every evidence showed that the murderer or murderers were after j money, as Mr. Bjerregaard was ! classed among the wealthiest men in Sanpete county. Indica- tions also pointed that an effort had been made to burn the body, a3 the bed clothing had been fired, but for some reason . the flames were somthered. Officers were immediately called to the scene, according to advices re- ceived in Gunnison, and diligent search is being conducted in the hopes of uncovering some clue that would lead to the apprehen- sion of the one that committed the dastardly crime. Andrew Bjerregaard had been a resident of the county for many years and he had been foremost in building up the section in which he took a great pride. He had been successful in his opera- tions as a banker, fanner and real estate owner. He is a widow- er, but is survived by several children. |
