Show I LOCAL ITEMS OF INTEREST '1 " Mr. and Mr. Don E. Pence and sons, Robert and Leon Pence, are here from their home at San Fernando, Calif. They are on a vacation and while here are the guests at the home of Mrs. Lyda Duggins, mother to Mrs. Pence. Edwin C. Schmitt, of Salt Lake, has joined the working forces at the Gunnison Sugar factory. Mr. Schmitt is a machinist of no mean ability and his addition to the present efficierft crew, makes the organization one of the best in the southern section. j Eail Arnold, a student of the Salt Lake schools during the past winter, is at his home with his father, L. J. Arnold, at Spearmint for the summer. Earl was accompanied by his father, who motored to the city Decoration day. ' M:lcs Bardsley left for the coast Tuesday of this week. Miles expects to K cate permanently at Los Angeles. Mrs. J. E. Metcalf delightfully en-tertu'ned en-tertu'ned for members of the Treas Jouli club at her home on East First-south First-south street Monday afternoon of this week. Needlecraft, followed by a dainty luncheon, were the enjoyable features. Roy Tuft of Centerfield, and J. A. Tuft of this city, were called to Monroe Mon-roe Monday on account of the death of Carl Tuft. Carl is a brother to Roy Tuft and the announcement of the death, resulting from a ruptured appendix, ap-pendix, was a shock to the relatives and friends here. Wayne Preator, who, with Mrs. Preator, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. N. S. Gregory, returned to Salt Lake where he will reside permanently. per-manently. Mrs. Preator is remaining for a week or ten days and is the guest at the home of her mother, Mrs. Belle McKenna. . Anthony Lund and Sargeant Claw-son Claw-son of the Salt Lake police department, depart-ment, were here from Salt Lake Decoration Dec-oration day. On their return trip Mr. Lund and Mr. Clawson met with an accident at Ironton, which resulted in serious injury to Prof. Lund. Mrs. Walter Brandt of Salt Lake, is here and is the guest of friends and relatives for a week or ten days. Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Johnson left hurriedly for Salt Lake Thursday of last week. When a transformer at Magna exploded last week, Sherrell 1 Huffaker, a close relative to Mr Johnson, was seriously injured by electric burns, and Mr. Johnson was called to be at the bedside. |
