Show "Barn Yard" Golf To Be feature Sport "Earn Yard Golf," alias horseshoe pitching, will be the feature sport for the farmere at the annual farmers' encampment to be held this year July 15-13, at the Utah State Agricultural Agri-cultural college. . Contests will be open to farmers only, according to the Bureau of Census, Cen-sus, end a farmer is a person who directs di-rects the operation of a farm. Hence ovners of farms who do net themselves them-selves direct the operation of farms are not farmers. A farm is defined as a tract of land of three or more acres or a tract that produces $250 worth of farm products in a year. Coach Joseph R. Jensen of the college col-lege has tken placed in charge of the contests wh.'oh will be held according to the horxeshoe pitching rules of the National Horseshoe Pitchers' association associa-tion of the United States. A beautiful trophy cup will be awarded by the Utah Farmer to the county whose' representatives win the tournament. Any county winning the cup for any three years will, become the permanent possessors of the cup. In addition, medals will be awarded to each of the contestants, both in singles and doubles, comprising the winning teams. Last year the cup was won by Davis county and has been won in previous years by Box Elder and Weber counties. The tournament is scheduled to begin be-gin at 1 p. m. Tuesday, July 16. This tournament has attracted a large portion por-tion of the male members registered last year when more than 3000 people peo-ple of the state attended the encampment. |
