Show Hope to Aid Indians The Indian ex-service men are proving prov-ing difficult to handle, according to recent re-cent reports furnished American Legion Le-gion officials in South Dakota and other western states, by investigators of the veterans' bureau. Many of these men were wounded, but when they return to the reservations nothing is ever heard of claims for hospitalization, hospitaliza-tion, compensation, or treatment. Recently Re-cently Legion officials and representatives representa-tives of the veterans' bureau inspected reservations in the West and found that a majority of the Indians who served in the World war are compensable, compensa-ble, but manr are not now receiving government aid. One report indicates that out of one hundred and fifty examined, practically one-third were afflicted with trachoma, a contagious disease of the eye. Legion officials in such states expect to extend their relief re-lief work to aid these men. |
