Show Would Have Lights On Hairpin Curve That lights will be placed at ad- vantageous places at the dugway in Sterling seems to be assured, and if installed will fill a long-felt need. Friday of last week, W. O. Cluff, sales manager for the Telluride Power Pow-er Co., and F. T. Nelson, local manager man-ager for the company at Gunnison, met with the chairman of the County Commissioners, P. P. Dyreng, and laid before him a contract covering the conditions under which the power company will install the lights. The contract specifies that three one-hundred-watt lights shall be placed at the most advantageous points on the dugway. The lights will be placed, one at the south curve of the dugway, dug-way, one will be placed in the center, and one on the north. Commissioner Dyreng will take the matter up, with the commissioners when they meet as a body, the first Tuesday of February, and action will be taken on the contract, which if satisfactory to the county commissioners commis-sioners will mean the immediate installation in-stallation of the lights. The dugway which is located ( n Six-Mile creek, has always been a menace to the motoring public, and has been the scene of many near accidents, and is considered a most dangerous place to drive over .-: night time. Due to low visibility a..d the sharp curves at both entrances of the dugway, the man driving along is in peril of not seeing the curves in time and running over the embankment, em-bankment, which would bring fatal results to the occupants of the car. The installation of the lights is of vital importance, and it. is to be hoped that the commissioners see their way clear to having them placed at this point. |
