Show (junnison Lions Entertain Ladies The Gunnison Lions club were hosts at a big turkey dinner party at the high school Monday evening of this week, when the wives and lady friends were the special guests. It was -'the annual event of "ladies' night"' ;artd throughout the affair proved a real social affair. An elaborate ela-borate vdinner, served by the members mem-bers of the domestic science class, under the direction of Mrs. McClar-en McClar-en Peterson, proved the one big event. -. About thirty surrounded the festal board and from the start until un-til the. closing, merriment was paramount. para-mount. Ira Overfelt, president of the local club, acted as toastmaster and once started he kept the Lions, Lionesses and . Lionettes "roaring" with topics handed out for responses. Each guest at the. large dinner table was called upon for a response, a talk, song or "ditty," and time did not lag.- J. W. Jonesi first president of the Gunnison Gunni-son Lions club and who has been a real factor in the organization since its start a couple of years ago, gave a short talk on Lionism. He urged for the loyal support of the Gunnison Gunni-son club and stated that with the bright future held out for the entire valley as a result of new conditions, the club would prosper. Mr. Jones, who has removed to Salt Lake, regretted re-gretted the fact that he was com- j pellecl to sever his connections with j the local organization and concluding thanked the members and officers for the courtesies extended and the loyal support given during his administrations ad-ministrations as an officer of the Gunnison Lions club. Mrs. Jones also gave' a brief talk, extended the best wishes to the club. Following the dinner a brief informal in-formal reception was held which closed the splendid entertainment given by the local Lions. |
