Show Progress of Humanity Brought About by Inspiring In-spiring Influence of Women By JAMES J. DAVIS, Secretary of Labor. All -that I am in life, all that I have been able to accomplish, 1 owe to my mother. The best in any man is what he derived from his mother, 5nd the greater the man the more indebted to his mother he is always foiled to have been. .Humanity is slowly making progress, and this progress, I believe, is brought about by the inspiring influence of woman. She has lifted us from the lowlands to the heights, and on those heights marked the milestones of our progress by her love and devotion. There are pessimistic voices which profess agreement with everything every-thing that has been said in behalf of tho motherhood of the past, but are skeptical of the youngv women of today. I find that the old folks have always been a little skeptical of the younger generation, but they forget their elders, in turn, were quite skeptical of them. AH ages are pretty much alike, and I know of nothing particularly wrong with the girls of today. Some of them are doubtless quite frivolous, but re do not need to worry over them as a class. Host of them will give a good account of themselves when they shall have taken up their places amongst the matrons. |
